About Us

      José Luis Torres is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, Class of 1976.  He served as a Managing Attorney in Bronx Legal Services Corporation and as an Assistant Attorney General of the State of New York, Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection.  He has been in private practice for over 20 years.  He is admitted to the bar of the State of New York, United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

        Mr. Torres has handled numerous cases in both the federal and state courts. Two major decisions won by him were A.C.E.M.L.A. (Asociación de Compositores y Musicos Latino Americano) v. Copyright Royalty Tribunal, 763 F.2d 101 (2d Cir., 1985); Berkeley Associates v. DiNolfi, 122 A.D.2d 703 (1st Dept., 1986) and PLWJ Realty, Inc. v. Gonzalez, 285 A.D.2d 370, 726 N.Y.S.2d 858 (1st Dept., 2001).

        In addition, Mr. Torres has wide experience in real estate transactions and is a licensed real estate broker.  He is also a sports agent, representing two minor league baseball players and represents artists in contract and copyright matters.
