Accidents & Malpractice
If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident or has been harmed by malpractice, you should consult an attorney as soon as possible.
There are many rules and deadlines that must be met in order to successfully recover damages for the harm you suffered. An experienced attorney will handle your claim and make sure that your rights are protected and that you receive proper compensation for your damages.
If you are involved in an accident, do not admit that it was your fault. Take down identifying information of all those involved including the names, addresses and telephone numbers of witnesses. If it is an automobile accident, report it to your insurance broker as quickly as possible. You should do this in person and by certified mail, return receipt requested. The failure of your insurance company to receive timely notice of an accident may mean that they will not have to represent you (if you are the one being sued).
If you are harmed by medical, dental or legal malpractice, you should consult with an attorney as quickly as possible. There are deadlines (known as statutes of limitations) that may prevent you from suing unless you do so before they expire.
Call us for a free consultation. We'll be glad to discuss the details with you and to advise you on how to proceed. In most of these cases, our fee is based on a contingency basis, which means that we get a percentage of the amount of money we recover for you and you do not have to pay any legal fees unless we obtain an award for you.
Note: The statements above, which are based on New York law, are intended to inform, not to advise. You should consult an attorney before making decisions in this area.
