Wills
Our office can prepare simple and more complex wills and trusts. If you don't know if you should have a will, you should consider that if you die without a will in New York State, your property passes to your descendants according to a formula set in the law. This may or may not be the way you want your property distributed. In addition, careful planning can save on estate taxes which can take a significant part of the money and property you leave behind.
We charge a fee of $275.00 for a simple will with a living will and health proxy (where you state that you don't want extraordinary life support in the event of an irreversible and terminal medical condition) and a durable power of attorney (appointing someone to act for you if you become disabled). If you require a more complex will or a trust, the fee is higher and is provided to you after we analyze your financial situation.
Note: The statements above, which are based on New York law, are intended to inform, not to advise. You should consult an attorney before making decisions in this area.
